Good Morning PCS Panthers…

 TODAY is Thursday, September 21st, 2023.                                                       It is an “ F “  Day

 

There's no school on Friday, Oct. 6th , and we've planned a very cool adventure for 7-12 students. We're headed to Watkins Glen State Park to see the gorge & the falls, and then have lunch; after that, we'll head over to the Watkins Glen International Racetrack to preview some race car activity on the track! See Mr. Mitchell to sign-up and don't forget your permission slip. 

 

Any students in grades 7th through 12th wishing to be a member of the Student Council, applications are available in the office.  They are due back to Mrs. Welty by Wednesday, September 27th

 

The Homecoming theme this year is “FLORAL FANTASY”.  The dance will take place on Saturday, September 30th from 8 to 11PM.  Presale tickets will be sold until Thursday the 28th.  Cost is $12 per person and can be purchased from Mrs. Welty BEFORE or AFTER school and during PERIOD X.  Prices will increase to $15 per person if bought at the door.  This is a semi-formal dance so proper attire is required….NO JEANS and NO HATS.

 

On Friday during the pep rally the Homecoming Court will be announced. Those students will be required to ride in the parade at 5PM.  At half-time of the football game, the 2023 King & Queen will be revealed.

Some important notes regarding Homecoming:

#1:  If you intend on bringing someone from a different school, you must get a permission slip from the office for them to sign and return it to Mrs. Welty before Friday the 29th.

#2:  If you would like to bring a student that has already graduated high school, they must be a graduate of PCS.

 

The Spirit Week Wear for Monday is: . MONDAY:  Marvel Monday….Do you have Super-hero powers?....Dress like your favorite Marvel character,  - Remember to follow the dress code.

 

Chess Club starts on Thursday, September 28th . If interested, please sign up in Mr. Steighner's classroom! 

          

Have you heard all the Buzzzzz about the new beekeeping club? There is a sign-up sheet outside room 218, Mr. Canfield’s room.  Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 26th right after school.  Don't miss out on this sweet as honey opportunity!

 

The Western New York College Consortium will be at PCS TODAY.   The presentation will be held in the John Dubot’s Room at 11:00 AM.  Please be prompt.  All interested juniors and seniors are welcome to attend.

The Academic Club is looking for new recruits!    SIGN UPS are in the main office, now through tomorrow. Spaces are limited, so sign up soon. Successful applicants will be contacted directly.  Practices are held weekly on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Late bus transportation will be available if needed…  AGAIN – SIGN UP ENDS TOMRORROW.

 

Attention girls in grades 9th through 12th – If you are  interested in playing in the Powder Puff football game on Monday night, please sign up on the bulletin board outside Mrs Welty's room. 

 

Now for PCS SPORTS NEWS!...

Last evening the JV girls soccer team lost to Allegany-Limestone 2-1. Ariana Whittaker had the lone goal with an assist from Julia Layton. 

The Girls Swim Team won their first meet of the season Tuesday night swimming past Fredonia 121-58.  The team won 10 of 12 events.  Molly Marshall won the 200 Individual Medley and was on the winning  Medley and 200 Free Relay.  Emmalie Gehm was on 3 winning relay teams.

 

The girls modified volleyball team defeated Olean last night in a decisive win improving to 2-0.Lillian Deck led the way 7 aces and 8 assists.  Lanie Thompson added 3 aces and 5 kills.  Holy Mcdivitt had 5 aces and Myra Ubelhear had four aces and 2 kills. 

 

"The girls' modified soccer team had a 4-2 victory over Franklinville last night. Goals were scored by Quinn Scott, Honesty Johnson, Anna Faulkner, and Lillyana Everitt. Nice work ladies!"
