Friday’s trivia questions are back provided by the Culture Club. September 15 – October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage month. Although it may seem odd to have a cross over month it is significant. Your trivia question is this…Why does the month start on September 15? First student to Guidance with the correct answer gets a prize.
Attention Juniors: Your Wilson’s Snack Stick order forms and money are due on Monday, September 30! If you have not yet picked up your order forms, see Mrs. Kosinski!!
Any 11th or 12th grade student interested in attending the Alfred State College field trip, sign up outside your English or History classes. Deadline to sign up is October 7th. See Mrs. Pascucci with any questions.
Mrs. Luther is still looking for any students in grades 7-12 who would like to tutor elementary students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:45. If interested come see Mrs. Luther or message her in teams for more information.
For any junior interested in taking the PSAT, signups are being held in the Guidance Office between now and October 2. In order to sign up, you will need $18.00. Please bring the exact amount as we do not have change.
Reminder to juniors and seniors: If you are interested in taking the ASVAB on October 22, please sign up in the guidance office on or before October 7, 2024. The test is free.
Now for your PCS SPORTS NEWS… Last night the girls varsity soccer team beat previously unbeaten and #6 in the state Ellicottville 4 to 1. Grace Gariepy had two goals, and Ashley Carls and Gianna Aloi each scored once. Gianna Aloi and Mati Brotto each had assists, and Bella Morales had three saves. Portville heads to Salamanca on Thursday.
Coach Brown reported that Emmalie Gehm was a double winner last night in the win against Chautauqua Lake. Toni Travis had two 3rd place finishes for the team. Seventh grader Samirah Muyhee had solid relay swims and a personal best performance in the 100 Breaststroke.
The JV volleyball team defeated South Western last night 3-0. Amelia German led the team with 9 service points, 4 aces and 2 kills, while Ana Haynes added 3 aces and 5 kills, Ava Scanlon chipped in 7 kills and Ella Wentworth with 4 kills. Marissa Carls ran the offense with 13 assists and 3 aces.
The varsity Volleyball team defeated Southwestern last night 25-16, 25-22, 25-9 Laney Vincent 13 kills, 10 Digs Mia Rhinehart 16 digs, 3 aces Adelyn Walker ran the offense with 35 assists, Leigha Stives added 5 kills and Bella George with 2 kills. Adriana Ensell had 5 kills, 13 digs and 2 aces, Adriana was also honored for 500 career digs MaxPrep player of the match Ali Haynes had 14 kills, 10 digs, 5 aces, & 2 blocks The team will travel to Victor tomorrow for a tournament.
