Attention band students going on the field trip to Pitt-Bradford today: We will be eating our packed lunches on the bus when we leave.  Please come to the band room immediately after period 4 so we can leave on time. If you have forgotten to bring a packed lunch, please see Mr. Archer immediately so we can arrange something for you to eat.

 

The Student Council will have a meeting TOMORROW in the library during Period X.  The main goal will be the selection of Spirit Week themes.  Please come to the meeting with ideas and with a writing utensil. 

 

Friday’s trivia question was… September 15 – October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage month.  Although it may seem odd to have a cross over month it is significant.  Why does the month start on September 15?  The answer it is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for many Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.  The student with the correct answer was Aaron Stearns. 

 

Homecoming tickets are on sale this week and until Thursday, October 10th of next week.  Tickets can be purchased in Mrs. Welty’s room before school, after school, or during lunch periods.  Cost is $12 per person if you purchase by the 10th.  At the dance, the price increases to $15.  The dance will take place in the High School Gym from 8PM to 11PM with the theme, “Golden Hour”. 

 

Any 11th or 12th grade student interested in attending the Alfred State College field trip, sign up outside your English or History classes.  Deadline to sign up is October 7th.  See Mrs. Pascucci with any questions.

 

Mrs.  Luther is still  looking for any students in grades 7-12 who would like to tutor elementary students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:45.  If interested come see Mrs. Luther or message her in teams for more information.

 

For any junior interested in taking the PSAT, signups are being held in the Guidance Office.  SIGN UPS END TOMORROW.  In order to sign up, you will need $18.00.  Please bring the exact amount as we do not have change.

 

Reminder to juniors and seniors:  If you are interested in taking the ASVAB on October 22, please sign up in the guidance office on or before October 7, 2024.  The test is free.

 

NOW FOR YOUR PCS SPORTS NEWS:

The modified girls volleyball team won a close and exciting match last night against Olean moving their record to 7-0.  The girls played their hearts out and managed to inch out the win in the 5th set by a score of 25-23.  Riley work served one of her six aces to preserve the win.  Layla Hallock was stellar on defense and had 3 kills and 4 aces.  Lillian Deck did a great job at setter and had 4 aces and three dumps.   Sophie Wilson came up big in the last set with two timely kills.  The team is home tonight at 5 against Salamanca.  Come out and support the team.

 

The boys varsity soccer team defeated Salamanca/Catt. LV last night 10-1. Goal scorers were Colin German, Braedon Carter, Garret Reynolds, Patrick Perkins, Carson Friends, Chase Armstrong, Trent Jadlowski, Owen Faulkner, and Gabe Evans. Come support the boys as they have a tough league match tomorrow at home at 4:30 against Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.
