Mia Welty and Meghan Lyle each scored once, while Courtney Lyle had one assist and Mackenzie Harmon had five saves in goal. It was another solid performance by the Lady Panthers on their senior night. The team is now 11-1 on the season.
Now for “Part 2” of Athlete of the month news…..
Congratulations to our athletes named Athlete of the Month for September
Girls Soccer:
Mia Welty: 10 goals, 6 assists in September. Leads the team in goals. Most assists (tied with Mallory and Teagan, each with 6 assists).
Mallory Welty: 8 goals, 6 assists in September (tied for most assists).
Courtney Lyle: 7 goals, 4 assists in September.
Kendall Artlip: 2 goals, 7 assists. She has saved us on Defense dozens of times... takes pride in the “non-glorifying” role of stopper and sweeper, takes all goal kicks... gives everything she can give whenever she’s on the field.
Each of these girls have consistently played with energy and enthusiasm, stepping it up for their final PCS soccer season, with the willingness to do what it takes to get the job done. They are great soccer players and great teammates.
Boys Soccer:
Thomas Carls- He is the leader of our defense and the guy that bails us out when the defense breaks down in front of him. As our last defender, we depend on him to shut down opponents attack. He is a huge reason why we have only allowed 6 goals all season.
Troy VanSickle- Racking up 36 saves and only 6 goals all year, Troy has been solid in net. He was the team MVP for the Olean High Tournament after he stopped two penalty kicks in the shootout.
Kyle Mathes- Mathes was named MVP for the Gator Cup. He also had the game winning goal against Olean. Kyle is a lead by example kind of player. He commands the offense. He has 8 goals, and 9 assists on the season.
Nick Harmon-Nick is currently our leading scorer with 10 goals and also recorded 2 assists. Even more so, Nick’s no quit attitude and constant hustle allows us to hold the ball in transition and really develop our attack.
