Now for a Special Announcement from the Athletic Department ….
Here are the Athletes of the Month for December:
Girls Basketball:
.
Lillian Bentley a sophomore center, averaged a double-double of 13.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. She gets up the floor well and is part of the reason our transition offense is successful. Her size, strength, and determination have caused issues for opponents and teams have to specifically game plan to defend her.
Mallory Welty a senior captain and point guard, has a balanced stat sheet. Her game averages were: 12 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.9 steals. Mallory is our floor general on the court and is always consistent and unselfish. She plays the game the right way.
Mia Welty a senior captain and guard, is leading the team in steals and is second in assists with averages of 3.4 steals and 3.2 assists per game. She also chips in with 8 points and 4 boards per game. Mia’s value to the team lies in her defensive abilities. She has a knack for getting deflections on passes that lead to easy transition baskets for the Lady Panthers.
These girls helped the Lady Panthers achieve a 5 and 2 record for the month and win both the Adam Elliott and the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournaments. They were two points shy of winning the IAABO Tournament as well.
Boys Basketball:
Maxx Yehl led the team in rebounds with 101, he also had 10 steals and 15 blocks
Luke Petruzzi led the team in assists with 24, he also had 7 steals and averaged 12. 8 points per game.
Wrestling:
Kaedon Holcomb went 7-4 in the month of December with 7 pins. He placed 2nd at the Portville Invitational and 8th place at the Linda Knuutila Memorial tournament.
Dakota Mascho went 12-0 during the month of December with 9 pins. He placed 1st in the Portville Invitational and at the Linda Knuutila Memorial tournament.
