PCS Covid Protocol Update: At Portville Central Schools, our children, staff and families safety remains a top priority. We are currently experiencing a slight increase in Covid cases within our schools, which is similar to what we are seeing in our community and County. We would like to remind families to follow protocols as we had listed in our original plan:
• Families are responsible for monitoring their child’s health. If they show any signs of illness (Fever/chills/cough/shortness of breath/difficulty breathing/fatigue/muscle or body aches/headache/loss of taste or smell/sore throat/congestion/runny nose/nausea or vomiting/Diarrhea) keep them home. When in doubt keep them out!
• Employees are responsible for monitoring their health. If you show any signs of illness, stay home.
• The current quarantining guidelines for someone testing positive are:
o Quarantine for 5 days from positive test date.
o Students or staff can return on day 6-10 if the symptoms have improved, however, they must have a negative test and mask at school until the 10-day quarantine period has ended.
o Note: Students or staff who are a close contact of a positive person and symptom free, are quarantined per current regulations; however, they may attend school during the quarantine period if they mask appropriately and undergo recommended testing. These individuals should be closely monitored for symptoms during this quarantine period. .
Our PCS community has done a remarkable job throughout this pandemic and we are asking for your continued support for the safety of all by continuing to follow these protocols. We also remind everyone that we have home Covid tests available at school. You can request tests by emailing covidtest@portvillecsd.org. These tests can be picked up in the elementary or high school office, or sent home with your child if requested.
