FOR PARENTS

WELCOME

Welcome to the parent resource page! Expand the accordion menus below for more information regarding each available resource.

  • You can access information on your child’s academic progress through the Parent Portal.

    PowerSchool Parent Portal

Portville Central School District has recently changed its Student Management System to PowerSchool. As a result there will be a new process to access the parent portal. The portal will allow parents/guardians with more than one child to access all of their children at one time with one login and password. You will be able to securely view your child's up to the minute student attendance and grades.

Click on the "Create an Account" tab the first time you login for the 2015-2016 school year (DO NOT just type in the access ID and Access Password on the main screen as it will not work). The portal will ask you to put in your name, email, and your password (you will be able to make up your own user name and password for ease of use).

Next, complete the "Link Students to your account" section. Add your child(ren)'s Access ID and Access Password data from below. Please note this information is case sensitive.

    Access ID: Access Password:

Finally, continue adding other children from your family as needed. When completed, press the "Enter" button on the bottom left hand corner of your current page. Note: Your Username and Password is unique to your child, please keep these logins confidential so that only you and your child(ren) can access their information. This portal is a great way to discuss school and the classes that your child is taking this year. Grades are posted to the Parent Portal by the teachers. The teacher's grade book is a "snapshot" and does not always accurately reflect the student's overall progress or performance. Grades can have different values in weighting and will vary by particular courses. Please remember that all assignments will be put up as soon as possible by all teachers but some projects will take longer to assess and post depending on their size. If you have questions regarding an assignment, you can always email the teacher. Please go to the icon called Email Notifications and set up any reports you would like to receive from the parent portal. You do not have to use this, but it is a great way to have information sent to you on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis.

Please email Teegan Forness if you have any questions or concerns regarding the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Thank you for your participation in the Parent Portal.

  • This Portal will be able to keep families up to date with meeting notices, meeting dates, IEPs, and 504 Accommodation Plans. Please contact Tara Meacham at (716) 933-7107 with any questions.

  • In accordance with New York Education Law Section 3012-c(10), parents and legal guardians may request the final quality rating and composite effectiveness score for each of the teachers and for the principal of the school building in which your student(s) is assigned for the current school year. Portville Central School will also provide you with an oral or written explanation of the composite effectiveness scoring ranges for final quality ratings, and an opportunity to understand such scores in the context of Portville Central School’s teacher/principal evaluation and student performance. If you are interested in accessing this information you should contact the superintendent’s office. To expedite the process, fill out the form below and bring it with you to the Superintendent’s office. Scores will be provided only to individuals with proper ID.

Scores will be mailed out once ID has been shown and the request form is completed and properly submitted.

Legal Guardians must complete the request form, and submit it to the Superintendent’s Office before any information may be released.
