GREAT NEWS!! Portville will be starting both a girls and boys 5th and 6th grade basketball team. This will start ASAP so signups will be Thursday, March 25th at the Jean Feely Outdoor Classroom 5-6pm. (Same as Little League) Cost will be $25/player. Practices will start next week. We understand that some may be on vacation...that's OK! Games will not start until after break. Also, this will not interfere with baseball/softball, we will be working schedules around that. The season will end the first week in May. If you can not make it to signups and are interested please text your players name and grade to Pam Wenke at 716-307-8156 and she will get your child registered at a later date.

PORTVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEMBERS - FREE ITEMS! With the building project currently taking place and the lack of space in the building due to spacing students out to accommodate in-person learning, we have found ourselves with no room to store some recently excised materials such as fluorescent light fixtures and shelving units. If you would like to take a look at any of the items and decide you want them, they are yours for the taking! Everything we are looking to get rid of has been stacked out behind the school near the Maintenance Building (by the upper practice soccer fields.) Please feel free to drive up and take what you can personally use. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE!

We want to recognize and celebrate one of our seniors and VERY talented singer- Kaleb Shaw! Kaleb is one of 3 vocalists to be selected from Cattaraugus County to be part of the Virtual All-State Choir this year. The Virtual Concert will be Sunday April 11. Every other year, only those who are selected for All-State can be considered for the All-Eastern Honor Ensemble. Kaleb was the only student selected from our county to make the All-Eastern Mixed Chorus. The All-Eastern Virtual Conference kicked off last night and there will be more this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow. After this weekend, he will be completing his recordings and the virtual concert will be April 23.  CONGRATULATIONS KALEB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON FIRST GRADE QUARANTINE: Since our posting, we have been informed by Cattaraugus County Health Department that it will be necessary to quarantine only 4 students who were contacts of the first grader that tested positive today. Therefore, UNLESS YOU ARE CONTACTED BY THE COUNTY, all first graders are to report to school tomorrow for in-person learning. We are sorry for the confusion, but happy we will see most of our Firsties tomorrow!!

As we return to school tomorrow, we are asking that students wear their masks ALL DAY this week. We will reassess this request at the end of the week. We all continue to Wear our Masks, Social Distance and avoid Large Gatherings - these steps are our best shot of continuing with in-person learning.
