IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Today during our random COVID-19 testing program, we had two siblings test positive in the Elementary School. This is in addition to several cases in the Middle/High School that have been traced back to an outside event. Due to the collective presence of COVID-19 in the Portville Community, we feel it is best to move to remote learning at both the Elementary and the Middle/High School through Friday, February 26th, with in-person learning to commence on March 1st. The Middle/High School is already on remote learning, the Elementary will move to remote learning tomorrow, February 19th. Reminder: Please Wear A Mask, Social Distance, and avoid Large Gatherings - these steps are our best shot of continuing with in-person learning.

Students and Parents Grades 7-12: Portville Central School was informed that we had a positive COVID case in the 10th grade. Contact tracing was done through the Catt. County Health Department. This resulted in a number of students and teachers being quarantined. Since the positive COVID case, I have received information that there are two more positive cases pending. With a lack of substitutes, and in an effort to try and control the possible spread of COVID, PCS will be going to remote learning for the remainder of the week. Remote Learning: Wednesday, January 17th through Friday, January 19th. Sports practices and games may occur, as long as the program does not have a student-athlete that is COVID positive. Activities for the 100th day of school will take place at a later date, once we have returned to school. The Senior Ski Trip to Holiday Valley has been postponed. Sincerely, L. Welty

Portville Central School will be conducting its own randomized COVID 19 testing program starting on Thursday January 28th. This program is voluntary, and only students who have submitted parental permission slips will be tested. A combined 10-15 students/employees may be tested on a daily basis Monday - Friday. We will alternate testing in the Elementary and Jr/Senior High School each day. Parents will be notified of results for their child the day of the testing. School and Districtwide results are posted daily at https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov/#/home If you have questions regarding this program, please contact your child's principal. Again, this testing is voluntary. We appreciate the tremendous community support we have received regarding our testing program and hope to continue to roll out additional capacity as we are able. Starting Monday February 1st, we will be expanding our COVID - 19 testing to any individual working in a municipality/business in the Portville Central School District.
